Stop Running Through The Rain

As kids many of us were told and trained to run inside when it was raining outside so that we didn’t get wet as much. To avoid it altogether, some were taught to use an umbrella for protection. The thing is that whatever habits we adopt early on are really tough to remove out of us and it may translate to other areas of our lives. I notice quite a bit that we tend to run through life the same way we run to avoid getting wet in the rain.
Well I want to encourage you to think backwards today. Reverse your thinking when it comes to this logic at times and it will do wonders for your productivity and growth.
Slippery When Wet
One of the most important things that I picked up from experience is that when you run on a wet surface, you’re more likely to fall. This is a common practice that we have adopted in life. When we lack the patience to go through a process we suffer from a unsure foundation. It’s not always about how prepared you are to go through a storm as much as it is about enduring the storm. You’ll come out better for it.
The Importance of Pace
The pace of growth you reach is predicated upon the mindset you have. The thinking of “ I want it now” while neglecting patience will put you in a position to get you to your destination quicker, but you won’t be immersed or as well versed as you could be for where your going. Others will then notice and it will have an effect because believe it or not- people are watching you.
If you had an umbrella and walked from outside in the rain into a building for a meeting and everyone was soaking wet while you were fairly dry, do you think you’d be noticed? It’s the same way as we are growing in life- the small things matter. When you rush through a process or take short cuts, people also notice. The way that you navigate through the rain makes all the difference. Integrity is key.
Next time you start running through the rain, think about your life and ask yourself “Am I running for the right reasons?”
