Products Develop; People Grow

It was the fall of 1997 when I began to notice the inner weaving of the way companies developed products and how their growth affected the nation and global markets. I saw so many things transpire years before, but this was the year that I suddenly began to notice the patterns.

I always loved challenges and puzzles with patterns, so I guess it’s fair to say that my understanding developed with repetition. Though I really enjoyed the observing these patterns as a child, when I started to see patterns in life, the outcomes weren’t always pretty. The fact is that when it comes to people, products, and how we use them, the way they come into fruition is interesting to say the least. As long a person or company displays progression or growth it directly drives not only the appeal but opportunities for a brand or product to develop.

How Products Connect People

I’ve always found it interesting how people are wired and how similar the development of a product resembles the growth of a person. For instance, here are a few ways they correlate:

Example 1:

Product: Once you have a vision for a product and you are well versed in the specifics of it, you must identify what the consumer’s need is with the product.

People: In order to be make a healthy impact as a person, you have to understand yourself and know what you need in order to grow to the position you envision.

Example 2:

Products: You have to collaborate with good designers. Ideas alone won’t lead you to make profit, you must get to work on it! Whatever your weak areas are in engineering, collaborate with others to make the product a reality and play on your strengths.

People: After you hone in on what drives you and you just can’t dream alone anymore, you have to develop relationships with other people to grow in social interaction in order to be the healthiest version of you possible.

As many complicated issues that we as people are involved in or are apart of, we are all at the core rooted and established in a set of principles that we operate by. From these principles that are the foundation erupt pillars that sustain who we are. We all innately have the ability to make decisions whether we are developing as people or if we’re developing a product. The goal is to make the right ones.
